Education – The Gift That Lasts

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Benjamin Franklin

By donating now, you can help empower families to do things on their own, save money, and invest in their homes.

Our education program involves our participants. They:

We need your help to grow this program to provide enhanced hands-on learning opportunities
in expanded classroom space in our own building.

We want to move from donated space by fall, 2018.

We must get our new space ready, and this new bathroom will make it accessible for all who come to learn.

Kalamazoo’s concentration of older homes tends to be occupied by low-income individuals who struggle with the costs of upkeep. These homes may be affordable to purchase, but often are already in various states of disrepair or neglect or are not energy efficient. Many homeowners feel ill-equipped to handle home maintenance and repairs themselves.

The goal of the education program is to teach residents the importance of maintaining their homes and give them the skills to do so cost effectively.

We thank Trinity Lutheran Church for the use of their space for our workshops since 2012.
